This hands-on suture class is designed for midwives and student midwives who want to strengthen their confidence and skills in assessing and repairing lacerations. The course includes two hours of didactic education and two hours of hands-on practice.
We’ll review the latest evidence surrounding second-degree lacerations, relevant anatomy and physiology, accurate identification and classification of lacerations, appropriate use of anesthesia and pain management, selection of suture materials, and choosing appropriate suturing techniques for different types of repairs. The hands-on portion includes practical instruction and practice with common stitches, repair techniques, and surgical knots.
